I don't want to go on the cart!

I'm alive and, all things considered, I'm doing pretty well. On Friday, we arrived at the hospital on time, put me in a paper gown, shaved my belly, and removed my gallbladder. (A personal note to hospital staff: if you would let patients know about the need to shave in advance, we can take care of these things ourselves, in ways less likely to cause painful ingrown hairs.) The surgery went very well and the doctor says all of my insides look nice and healthy (except for my now missing gallbladder). As promised, photos of my gallbladder and wounds are up on Flickr

I spent Friday and most of today, Saturday, under my parents' watch and care. They took excellent care of me. Now, I'm back in my own home in my nice new recliner with my favorite fleece blanket. My parents are awesome and are the best but it really is nice to be home again.

One sad note for all of this though. My paternal grandmother, my last remaining grand relative, died Wednesday night. My parents are flying out tomorrow morning to spend the week in California with family. Unfortunately, I will not be able to join them thanks to my surgery. Please send all the good thoughts and energies you can to my dad and his brother this week. The funeral is on Wednesday.

Anywho, I'm still alive. You all aren't that lucky yet :)
